INTERVIEW TO REAL McKENZIES

Hi, nice to meet you again. This time I will interview to the band called Real Mckenzies

- Who are the members of Real McKenzies?

1. Paul McKenzie, Karl Alvarez, Mark (The Bone) Boland, Dave Gregg, Matt MacNasty, (Dirty) Kurt Robertson, Sean Sellers, Gord Taylor

- When was the band formed?

2. Various reports indicate different dates, but I think 1992 is the answer to your question.

- What are your activities (other than the band)?

3. Drinking, drugs, sex, rock and roll...wait...that's mostly band stuff...Actually, I think 'the band' is our lives. We only have 3 weeks off between our Eurotour and Canadian tour, then after another 3 weeks, we go back to Europe. There's really no time for anything during our offdays except a little sleep and maybe some sex.

- We like the song called "Smokin' Bowl" from the album 10,000 Shots. Can you tell us a little about that song?

4. Smokin' Bowl is written based on a poem written by the Scottish poet, Robbie Burns. This song is often confused for being about drugs, but actually, the poem was originally written about a bowl of oatmeal.

- When do you plan on releasing a new album?

5. We have a new acoustic album coming and DVD coming out in 2010. The acoustic album is called 'Shine not Burn' and the DVD is called 'The Real McKenzies Love You'. Myself and Dirty Kurt are going to start writing our new electric album (Probably due for release in 2011) at the beginning of March.

- What was your best show?

6. All of our shows are our best shows! That's part of being a Real McKenzie! Every audience is different and we're the type of group that always find the most amazing times anywhere. The Real McKenzies are all about a positive attitude and having fun, and we could never say that one show was better than the other just because of how many variables there are. For example, Russia had a huge amount of fans who were absolutely wild and fun and rock and roll, but in Dusseldorf we played a laid back acoustic show for about 70 people were so intimate and awesome. We were actually talking to each and every one of them during the concert! in the coming months, we'll be playing for the St. Pauli Football Club's 100th anniversary and will be playing for 30,000 people. That will be an amazing show too for different reasons! We've heard that Indonesian fans are truly the best though, so until we play Indonesia we want to hold back our answer on what our best show was :)

- Do you have any plans on touring Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia?

7. No. We really want to come though, but we need to find people who want to hire us, and a booking agent willing to sacrifice his or her good name in order to build us a bitchin' Southeast Asia/Indonesia tour! Do you know anyone?

1. Who are the members of LEFT ALONE?
ELvis guitar vox, Billy drums, the jam Bass, James organ

2. When was the band formed?
i started the band in back in 1996

3. What are your activities (other than the band)?
i run smelvis records, breed english bulldogs, and drink

4. When do you plan on releasing a new album?
i think early 2011

5. What was your best show?
playing with social distortion in Vienna

6. Do you have any plans on touring Southeast Asia, specifically Indonesia?
no plans yet book us a tour and we will go!

INTERVIEW WITH THE OPPRESSED (RODY MORENO)

1.How many times have you been in clash with the cops since the first time The Oppressed started?

- All the clashes back in the 80s were between our lads (the Cardiff crew) and the lads from whatever town we were playing. It was just football violence but at a gig. The police would turn up at the end and escort us back to Wales.


2. What would you do if you were to play in a gig, that was sponsored by a corporation, which funded the war, but you just found out minutes before the gig, and meanwhile your fans had been waiting for you to play?


- That's easy, I'd play the gig. Not playing would make no difference to the politics of war but it would piss off the fans.


3. Is a skinhead always trapped in a consumerism? Such as having to wear fred perry polo shirt and Dr. Martens boots. Apparently both are quite expensive, if you know what I mean.

- You don't have to wear Fred Perry or Dr Martens. Any cheap polo shirt will do. The important thing is to look sharp.


4. Many Oi and punk bands have reunited again. What do you think makes them reunite? Do you think it's factor of money, or truly their passions to rock out the world with the old and young punks and skins?

- I think it's a bit of both. Of course people want to earn some money but you've still got to love it. Even if a band only reforms for the money it's OK if they produce on stage and keep the fans happy.


5. Any last words for the Indonesian Oi! Scene?

- Always fight to keep your scene free of Fascists. Ignore them and they will steal your culture. "FUCK FASCISM BEFORE IT FUCK'S YOU".
