INTERVIEW WITH BAD MANNERS

Hey Readers check this out!!! An interview with the one and only Buster Bloodvessel himself from the legendary Bad Manners!

1. could you tell us your bands history?
Buster: Bad Manners started in 1975 at school and the first live performance was at Stonehenge festival. As I really need to go to prison to write the book, I'm not sure how much history I can give you.

2. who plays in the Bad Manners now?
Buster: The American version is Buster Bloodvessel, Lee on bass, Justino on drums, Jake on guitar, Pablo Fiasco on keyboards, Matt on saxophone, Josue on trumpet and Jonny on trombone. In the UK, the band is: Buster, Lee on bass, Bingo on drums, Leroy on guitar, Ross on keyboards, Treackle and AIDS on saxophone, Colin on trumpet, Dave on trombone, Russell on congas.

3. do you have a new album?
Buster: I have been working on other projects, so I have put Bad Manners on the back burner, but I promise to have the new album out for next year. Also we are going to re-release quite a lot of old classics that have never seen the light of day on CD.

4. besides the band, what do you guys do?
Buster: Masturbate. Sometimes we eat, sometimes we drink.

5.do you have any plans to play in Asia, or Indonesia especially?
Buster: No, we would love to have some sort of contact there. Maybe you could help us by introducing us to some promoters! I remember a few years ago, signing a lot of stuff that was destined for Indonesia. So I know we have fans waiting for us to come.

6. do you have a 'best gig' experience? If so where was it?
Buster: Making 110,000 people dance in a crazy way - enough to make the trees dance with them. That was in Rotterdam at a big festival.

7. what do you think about racism and fascism in the scene?
Buster: I've never agreed with racism and I think there a lot of misconceptions of people in our scene that would even contemplate such a thing. I think ska stands up for itself and states what side of the fence you are on.

8. we heard your song called “skinhead love affair”, and "lip up fatty", are they your original songs? and what does 'lip up fatty' mean?
Buster: They are my original songs. "Lip Up Fatty" was an expression used at our school to tell people to shut up.

9.if you were to cover a song, which song would you want to cover?
Buster: "From a Jack to a King" or "Gossip Calypso".

10. how is your punk, rudeboy and skin scene right now?
Buster: Absolutely fabulous! And next year, I hope to host ska/punk/oi festivals in London.

11. Do you have a comment for webculturezine and for webculturezine readers?
Buster: Keep supporting Two Tone and ska in general!

Special thanks to Matt Mason for conducting the interview!
