INTERVIEW WITH BEAT DEVILS
Hey guys, we are Webculturezine, from Indonesia. First of all we would like to say thank you very much for the cd that you sent to us
And these are our questions:
Hello! Thanx a lot for your interest and questions!
1.Tell us your band's history.
- We've started in 2001, as a company of friends, then we became trio in January 2004, from that time we've recorded 2 albums, 1 EP, 1 internet-single, and now we're working on the 3rd album, also we've made around 700 gigs, toured in Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Finland, Germany, Czech Republic and it always was lots of fun and great periods of time! We plan to go to UK in December
2.What does your band's name mean? Is there a history behind it?
- The name came after first rehearsal in March 2001, we decided to play the beat like devils are doing in hell - and so it went out like that!
3.We got your cd album called “ Second Date”, what does it mean? Is there a story behind that?
- Second album - is like a second date with a girl - we've put a story on the last page of booklet about that. The boy - is the band, and the girl is the audience - actually it's just for fun, and no real serious concept in it!
4.Who are the players right now?
- Mike Bogdanov on the double bass and backing vox, Andy Lougovoy on the guitar and lead vox, Teo Nikolaev on the drums
5.Any new albums?
- We plan to release a new album in the end of this year. The songs are ready, but the title of the album is in process
6.If you were to cover a song, which song would you want to cover and why?
- We are doing a lot of covers of our favourite old-school psycho bands and also doing some funny remakes of non-billy bands. I like our covers of Batmobile - Mad At You, Sharks - Hooker, Blue Cats - Heaven's Gate
7.Besides the band, what do the players do?
- Mike is an engineer, dealing with the scanners, Teo is an employee of an air company, Andy is working at entertainment producing company
8.Could you tell us how your punk or psychobilly scene is right now? We heard there are many racist scenes there, is that true?
- It went up really good in the last 5 years - we've got foreign bands, who come and play concerts, Russian & Ukranian bands are touring in Europe and releasing albums there, the main cities of billy-movment are Moscow, St-Petersburg, Kiev. But there bands in other towns of Russia & Ukraine as well. A lot of new people are interested in the music, though the scene is young. About your second questions - here - like everywhere in the world - many people are coming to the concerts with different social and political views - but we don't mix politics with music - and so does the audience. There are no problems with that here.
9.Is there a 'best gig' you've had? When and where was it?
- Every new gig is the best for us actually - fresh impressions and drive! We can remeber the bright moments - when we played at Pineda Psychobilly Festival in 2009 - it was out first European gig!
10.Do you have plans to play in Asia or Indonesia especially?
- If we have offers - we would love to!
11.Do you guys like football? If yes, do you support Russia national football?
- We play football every week - with our friends - musicians from other bands, and we are real fans of this game
12.Do you have a web address for people who want to see your website?
- www.beatdevils.ru and here on myspace
13.Do you have any comments for webculturezine readers?
Thanks guys for taking the time to communicate with us.
- We want to thank you for your interest in our music! Good luck to everybody and see you some day! Most rocking wishes from Moscow, Russia!
